Histon have signed midfielder Glen Southam on an 18 month contract. The 29-year-old, who has 18 England C caps, has been playing for Bishop's Stortford since leaving League Two Hereford in October.

Histon boss Alan Lewer told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's a midfield player who likes to get forward and has a wealth of experience at this level.

"He went to Hereford, failed to settle in the area and got himself paid up so it's lucky for us."

Southam started his career with Bishop's Stortford before moving to Dagenham and Redbridge in 2004, where he made nearly 250 appearances and won promotion with the side to the Football League.

He then signed for Hereford in the summer of 2009, but failed to make an impact in the side.

The former Tottenham trainee told the Histon website: "When you sign for a new club it is a real boost if the club is ambitious. From what I know about Alan Lewer and everyone at Histon, this is certainly the case."
