Bulls hope to make quick decision

By BBC Sport
Thursday, 11th March 2010
Bulls hope to make quick decision.

Hereford United chairman Graham Turner hopes to have a new manager in place before the end of the season.Turner, who gave up his managerial role at Edgar Street last April, is back in the hot seat as caretaker boss after sacking John Trewick on Monday.

But he told the Hereford Times: "It's unlikely to be longer than the season and probably shorter.

"I don't suppose there will be any shortage of applications but we do not intend to advertise the job."

The only confirmed contender for the role is former Aston Villa defender Shaun Teale who revealed on Wednesday that he had applied for the job.

The immediate concern for Turner, who first took over the Bulls in 1995, is picking a team for Friday's trip to Lincoln.

But he also has one eye on this season's final transfer deadline on 25 March.

"We have got to bolster the playing squad before the transfer deadline," said Turner.

"I have already made a lot of phone calls, and I know John did too."

Turner also has to sort out a contractual dispute with experienced midfielder Kenny Lunt.

It is understood that if Lunt plays another game it would trigger a clause in his contract keeping him at Edgar Street for another season.

And he was left out of the side which lost 2-0 at home to Macclesfield on Saturday, Trewick's last game in charge.

Hereford, 18th in League Two, currently stand 11 points clear of danger, with 12 games of the season left.
